Rapid Care &
Testing

Did you know?

The Licensed Pharmacists at Goochland Pharmacy can now test and treat, anyone OVER the age of 18, for influenza viruses, strep infections, and other health related needs.  We are now able to offer many medical services, that allow our community members to receive good quality medical care in a timely and efficient manner.  At this time, these services are self-pay. HSA/FSA cards are accepted as form of payment.

Flu (Influenza A&B) Testing        $45

Flu tests require a respiratory sample, such as a nasal swab, to check for the presence of the flu virus. Results are available within 15 minutes.  Our licensed Pharmacist can prescribe antiviral medication if needed.

Influenza is a respiratory infection caused by a virus (germ). It occurs most often during the winter and easily spreads from person to person from coughing, sneezing and/or touching contaminated surfaces. Most seasonal flu outbreaks are caused by the A and/or B influenza viruses.

Strep Testing                                  $35

A strep throat test will check for group A Streptococcus bacteria in your throat. The test is painless, although it can be uncomfortable for some, and takes very little time.  Results area available within 15 minutes.  Our licensed Pharmacist can prescribe antibiotic medication if needed.

Strep throat is an infection in your throat and tonsils (the lymph nodes in the back of your mouth). With strep throat, your tonsils become very inflamed. This inflammation typically affects the surrounding area of your throat as well, which causes a sore throat (pharyngitis) and often a fever.

Allergy Shots                                  $20

Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists have trained and certified our Pharmacists on the proper technique and documentation of giving our community members allergy shots. We are able to provide this service to children or adults, once the maintenance dose has been achieved.

Allergy immunotherapy injections are the most effective long-term preventive strategy for allergy treatment. They build up a patient's immunity to the exact items to which he or she is allergic. Patients on immunotherapy generally have substantial reduction in their allergy symptoms as well as reduced need for medication.

Tobacco Cessation                       $40

(Stop Smoking)

A licensed Pharmacist will obtain a history from the patient, including questioning the patient for any known allergies, adverse reactions, contraindications, or health diagnoses or conditions that would be adverse to the initiation of tobacco cessation therapy.

The Pharmacist may initiate treatment and prescribe approved Nicotine Replacement Therapy (''NRT") and other tobacco cessation therapies ("Non-NRT"), including prescription medications together with providing appropriate patient counseling.
